Energy definitely attracts similar energy because since the beginning of the year, I had set my mind to doing more speaking engagements and opportunities have been coming at me from all directions. In the past three months I have hosted the Glamour + Confidence Event at Diane Von Furstenberg, presented two awards for the Seattle Nightlife Gala, started planning an accessory fashion show with Eye Society, and this past week had the wonderful opportunity to speak in front of 150 lawyers at K & L Gates.

As I was preparing my speech and what I wanted to get across to this audience of affluent, busy women, I realized I have become very confident in what I am doing and have come incredibly far in my career as a stylist. When I got on stage, I was so excited to share the information on my secrets to shop without regret and how to create an effortless business casual look. I felt as if I could go on and on. The way the audience was captivated by my advice and laughed at my jokes, I could tell they were interested in what I had to say and it felt prodigiously powerful.

This was the first event in which I had my own stage and was the key note speaker for a large audience. When I was waiting backstage, I could hear the hostess sharing my achievements and history, I was pumped and felt the adrenaline pulsing through my body. As I walked out, I had an enormous smile on my face because this moment was monumental for me. It was at this time, as I was standing on stage, that I took a deep breath and really took it all in. The beautiful cityscape, the enchanting view of the Pudget Sound, and the faces of all of these women waiting for me to speak that I realized this is it, this is what I’ve been dreaming of.

After it was done, a multitude of women came up to me and repeated the advice they could take away. They told me that they could relate to so much of what I talked about. I know in 25 minutes, I had made an impact in some way to make their lives easier which was such an incredibly amazing feeling for me. My intern Ciera Carpenter and stylist Claudia Huizar went backstage and we made a toast to many more successful events. There is so much I want to accomplish and I’m making it all happen.

I can’t wait to see where my creative adventures lead me next!
