If you’ve gotten comfortable purchasing the same pieces over and over again, this may be causing you to feel like you have nothing to wear. These tips will help you shop and look at your closet with new eyes. You don’t have to be a stylist to learn how to become more aware of your shopping habits.
STEP 1: ORGANIZE YOUR CLOSET
Take time to organize your closet, it’ll make it so much easier to find everything you have and it’ll be a good way to find your problem areas too. Hang everything up from left to write by style: camis, tees, 3/4 sleeve and long sleeve, and so on. Within each category, organize it by color. Notice any patterns as you’re doing this?
STEP 2: MAKE NOTES
After organizing your closet you’ll be able to have clear visual of what’s happening in there. Make notes on what color you have too much of? What styles are you purchasing the most? As a bonus fill in, what pieces you’re missing too. If you find you have way too many cardigans and not enough shirts or pants, take note of this.
STEP 3: BECOME MORE AWARE WHEN YOU’RE SHOPPING
Use the notes you took in step 2 and take a photo, have it on your phone. Notice how you shop and what you want to try on or purchase. If you find yourself going to the same pieces you have, stop yourself and try something new! Go off the list of what you can add to your closet to start rounding out your wardrobe and making the most with every purchase that you make.
